Biohazard Cleanup Team

Editorial Policy

How Biohazard Cleanup Team pages are written and checked, who stands behind them, how the site is paid for, and how to get a mistake fixed.

The short version

  • Biohazard Cleanup Team is published by Cornelia Cove LLC. Pages are drafted with automated writing tools and checked against the primary sources they cite.
  • There is no named expert, licensed tradesperson or outside reviewer on staff, and we don't claim one.
  • We don't invent reviews, testimonials, ratings, rankings or credentials.
  • We're a referral service. Independent local providers quote and do the work.
  • Prices are planning ranges, not quotes.
  • We may be paid by providers who receive requests. That doesn't change the figures we publish.

Who publishes this site

Biohazard Cleanup Team (biohazardcleanupteam.com) is published by Cornelia Cove LLC, 418 Broadway, Ste N, Albany, NY 12207. Questions about this policy go to partners@corneliacove.com.

How pages are written

Cornelia Cove LLC prepares every page using automated drafting tools. A draft isn't published on the tool's word: prices, rules and other facts are checked against the published source behind them, such as a national cost guide, a contractor's published price guide, a state or county agency, or university extension research, and that source is linked on the page. Where no source publishes a figure we need, we label it as an estimate and explain how we got it.

We don't have an expert in biohazard cleanup, or any other subject-matter expert, on staff reviewing pages before they go live. That's why pages carry no author bylines or “reviewed by” badges, and why we lean on cited sources instead of our own say-so. Before acting on anything here that affects safety, health, a permit or a large bill, confirm it with a licensed provider or the agency in charge.

The Sources lists on our cost guides, calculators, reports and location pages are collected, with the pages that use each source, on our sources page. How price ranges are chosen is on the methodology page.

What we won't publish

  • Customer reviews, testimonials or star ratings we haven't verified
  • “Best provider” rankings or awards
  • Licenses, certifications or credentials we or our providers don't hold
  • Guaranteed response or arrival times
  • Statistics without a source we can link to (our own estimates are labeled as estimates)

Referral service, not a contractor

Biohazard Cleanup Team doesn't do the work itself. When you send a request, we pass it to one or more independent local providers who serve your area. They set their own prices and do the work under their own license, insurance and terms. We don't supervise their work and can't guarantee it, so get the quote in writing and confirm any license your state requires before work starts. If anyone is in immediate danger, call 911 first.

Planning ranges, not quotes

Cost figures and calculator results are starting ranges for planning. They're mostly national, and local conditions, access, code requirements and each provider's pricing decide the real number. Only a provider who has seen the job can quote it.

How the site is paid for

Using Biohazard Cleanup Team is free. We may be paid by the providers who receive requests, for example per request or per call. That is a conflict of interest, and here is how we handle it:

  • Providers can't pay to change a cost figure, a source or a page's advice.
  • We don't mark up providers' quotes.
  • We share your request only with providers who may do the work. Details are in our privacy policy.

Updates and review dates

  • Each cost guide and calculator shows the month its figures were last reviewed.
  • We re-check figures at least once a year, and sooner when a source we cite changes its numbers or an agency changes its rules.
  • This page and the sources page show the date they were last reviewed.

Corrections

Spot something wrong, outdated or unsupported? Email partners@corneliacove.com with the page address and what looks wrong. We check every report against the cited source. If the page is wrong, we fix it and update its review date. If a claim can't be supported by a source, we soften it or take it down.
