Biohazard Cleanup Team

Who pays for crime scene cleanup in Kentucky?

If a violent crime has left a Kentucky home needing professional cleanup, the Kentucky Crime Victims Compensation Board is the state fund to know. Its cleanup benefit: up to $2,000 when the crime was at the victim's home or business, for cleanup within 30 days.

Compensation is the payer of last resort: homeowner's or renter's insurance is applied first, and most cleanup jobs are insurance-covered, with the remediation company often billing the insurer directly. In Kentucky, the overall program maximum is $50,000. Kentucky pays separately for window and lock repair (up to $1,500). The program makes the final call on eligibility and amounts, so treat every figure here as a starting point and confirm it with them.
